A converter and a method for driving the same are provided to obtain a predetermined group frequency, and to prevent audible noise and rippling of an output voltage of the converter. A converter includes a main switch(Qsw), a power supply unit(100), a current sensing unit(200), a burst mode control unit(300), and a PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) control unit(400). The power supply unit generates an output voltage by using an input voltage and transmits power to a load. The current sensing unit generates a sensing voltage by sensing a current flowing on the main switch. The burst mode control unit controls a group frequency of a burst mode by using a saw wave type signal having a first voltage and a first frequency. The PWM control unit controls a turn-on timing of the main switch and determines a turn-off timing of the main switch to control a switching operation of the main switch.
