Methods and apparatus for sensor alignment

The method involves providing a sensor (14) comprising a face (16) with a signal output contact, and a stratum (10) with a circuitry face, signal input contact, and an aperture. The sensing face is placed over an aperture (22), so that a signal output contact of the sensor makes contact with a signal input contact of a stratum. The stratum receives a housing (24), such that the housing and the sensor are in alignment. An independent claim is also included for an aligned sensor package comprising a sensor and housing attached to opposite sides of a stratum.
