A method and an apparatus for receiving a broadcasting signal are provided to receive service event information in a service search step, before receiving a broadcasting stream. A service discovery record is received through a service discovery and selection protocol(S21), and the service discovery includes service event information. The received service discovery record is parsed(S22). The service event information is extracted from the parsed service discovery record(S23). The service event information is an event information element included in the broadcasting discovery record. The event information element is a lower element of a single service element, which is included in the broadcasting discovery record. The single service element represents information related with one service of a service list of the broadcasting discovery record.
