A system and a method for transmitting application data in digital broadcasting are provided to service data, which are updated in real time when a user uses applications of the digital broadcasting, under broadcasting, multicasting, and unicasting environments. A set-top box(1) reproduces and controls AV(Audio/Video) reproduced in real time and application approved for use. A unicasting transmission system server(3) transmits applications of digital broadcasting and data to the set-top box in a unicasting type. The unicasting transmission system server receives the data through data providers(41) in synchronization with a transmission server(37). The data providers provides data used when the applications of the digital broadcasting are performed. The transmission server transmits the data, which is provided from the data providers, and the data, in which the applications are mixed, to the set-top box. A web sever(31) provides data and software necessary for the use of application when the set-top box is connected to the unicasting transmission system through an internet network, and an application sever(33) manages, registers, authenticates, interlocks and provides an AIT(Application Information Table) and the application provided to the set-top box through an internet network.
