A coating composition (I) comprises: (a) 55-75 wt.% of a hydroxyl group containing polyester; (b) 5-13 wt.% of a phenol formaldehyde resin; (c) 0-12 wt.% of a benzoguanamine-formaldehyde resin; (d) 0-10 wt.% of a blocked isocyanate; (e) 0.5-2 wt.% of a catalyst and; (f) 5-30 wt.% of a solvent whereby the composition (I) contains at least one of (C) and/or (D). Independent claims are included for: (1) a process for the production of the composition (I) by intensive mixing of the components at 20-80 [deg]C and: (2) metal objects coated with the coating agent (I).
