A compliant pin is provided to minimize engagement force (or insertion force) and minimize the potential for a damage to the plating of a PTH(Plated Through Hole) when the pin is inserted into and contacts the PTH. A compliant pin(100) includes a compliant portion, a flexible portion(Z2), and a lead-in portion(Z1). The compliant portion includes a pair of outwardly biased beam members having a beam profile. The lead-in portion is connected to the compliant portion. The lead-in portion has a lead-in profile having a lead-in profile. A width of the lead-in profile continuously narrows from the compliant portion to the tip. The lead-in profile is different from the beam profile. The lead-in profile is substantially straight. The lead-in profile is configured to minimize engagement force of the pin when inserted into a hole.
