A display device for automatically deleting specific channels and a method therefor are provided to maximize channel selection convenience for a user by automatically deleting channels which are not viewed at an ordinary time. A display device for automatically deleting specific channels includes a tuner(10), a demultiplexer(20), a sound processor(30), an image processor(40), a speaker(50), a display unit(60), a controller(70), an OSD processor(80), a key input unit(90), and a memory(100). The key input unit transmits a power on key signal of the display device. The memory stores view times of a user by channels and deletion conditions including a specific time period and a specific view time as a determining reference of channels among plural channels to be deleted. When the controller receives the power on key signal, it controls the memory to store viewing times of the user.
