An electronic device 310 has a touch screen 320 and an input device 200 (such as a pen or stylus) with a primary contact or tip 210 and a secondary contact 230 for additional touch screen operation. Contact 230 is attached to a shaft 220 of input device by a connecting strut (240, fig 2), and located radially from an axis of the shaft 220 on a plane perpendicular to the axis. A user may rotate shaft along the axis (see arrow B) to position contact 230. In other embodiments (not illustrated) the secondary contact or tip 230 may be retractable within the input device body when not required or for storage, or the radial spacing of the tips 210,230 may be adjustable. A method of touch screen detection is described (fig 4) which distinguishes between drag movements of a single contact and a secondary tip contacting the touch screen. |
