A method for recording/reproducing data on/from a holographic storage medium and an apparatus thereof are provided to reduce an on pixel rate of page data and a standard deviation of on pixels so as to improve reproduced quality of a reproducing signal and increase reliability of the signal quality of the page data. A control part(400) includes an ECC encoder(410), a page data inverter(420), a state information encoder(430), and a page generator(440). The page data inverter has a page divider(421), a bit counter(422), an inverting controller(424), and a state information generator(426). When a recording command of a host device(405) is transmitted to the control part, the ECC encoder encodes data by applying parity to an original page data so as to correct a deviation generated when playing the ECC encoder. The page generator outputs a final page data to an SLM(Spatial Light Modulator,314).
