PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device securing minimum ground clearance of a vehicle while preventing thermal damage against an electric motor. SOLUTION: The electric motor 15 is attached to a front part of a steering gear case 13, and it is connected to a power-assisting mechanism via a gear train not shown in the figure. In the electric motor 15 and the steering gear case 13, their lowermost parts exist in the same horizontal plane S, and the minimum ground clearance H is the same. By this, reduction of the minimum ground clearance H is prevented while enlarging a distance L between the electric motor 15 and a heat source 21. Since the electric motor 15 is arranged in front of the sneering gear case 13, traveling wind directly blows on it during vehicular traveling. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
