A mobile terminal and a display method therein are provided to use a Java application more efficiently by displaying the execution screen of the Java application in accordance with the screen size of a mobile terminal, without the necessity of a programming process to rearrange the images and font of the Java application according to the screen size of the mobile terminal. If the user of a mobile terminal selects the execution of a Java application(S200), a control part reads a MIDxlet-Screensize-Width value and a MIDxlet-Screensize-Height value, defined in a JAD(Java Application Descriptor file), and confirms the size of a canvas(S205). Then the control part compares the confirmed canvas size with the screen size of a display part(S210). If the screen size of the display part is larger than the size of the canvas, the control part enlarges the size of the canvas in accordance with the screen size of the display part(S215). Adjusting the size of the canvas, the control part settles the location of the canvas(S225). Then the control part establishes the size and location of a font according to the adjusted canvas size and drives the Java application(S230).
