An image forming apparatus is provided to enable an exposure lamp to perform the function of an eraser lamp and the function of a pre-transfer lamp, thereby reducing the number of components and reducing a manufacturing cost. Plural photoreceptors(211,221,231,241) form an electrostatic latent image. Plural charging units(212,222,232,242) charge each photoreceptor in predetermined electric potential. At least one light scanning unit(250,260,270,280) radiates light to the each photoreceptor. Plural developer supply units(213,223,233,243) attach developer to the each photoreceptor to form a visible image on the surface of the each photoreceptor. A transfer unit(290) transfers the formed visible image to a transfer medium. Plural exposure lamps(215,225,235,245) are installed adjacently to the each photoreceptor between the plural photoreceptors, radiates light on a surface, where the image transfer is completed, in one of two adjacent photoreceptors to reset the electric potential of the surface, and radiates light on a surface, where the visible image is formed, in the other of the two adjacent photoreceptors to lower the electric potential of the surface.
