A display device and a control method thereof are provided to use a main screen channel selecting key as a sub screen channel selecting key, thereby simplifying a key necessary for a PIP(Picture In Picture) function. A channel selecting unit(41,42) selects a channel of a main screen and a sub screen. A screen selecting unit(45) selects a screen, where a channel will be changed, among the main screen and the sub screen. A controller determines whether the screen selecting unit is selected if a channel is selected in the channel selecting unit. If so, the controller switches a channel of a sub screen according to the channel selected by the channel selecting unit.
