A system and a method for sharing a file in real time are provided to enable a user to perform unified management of files distributed to a communication terminal and a web hard. A method for sharing a file in real time comprises the following several steps. Communication terminals access an instant messenger server, and the messenger server generates a session between the communication terminals(210). The instant messenger server generates a temporary file folder at a temporary file storage unit wherein the temporary file folder can be accessed by only users who has participated in a corresponding session, and transmits a name and a location of the generated temporary file folder to the communication terminals(220). The instant messenger server transmits information of participant users to a web hard management server(230). The web hard management server checks whether corresponding users are web hard users by using the received information of users, and in case that the corresponding users are web hard users, transmits information on files of the corresponding users stored at the web hard storage unit to the communication terminals(240). If the communication terminals receive the information on the files stored at the temporary file folder from the instant messenger server and the information on the files stored at the web hard storage unit from the web hard management server, the communication terminals display the received information on the files with information on proprietary files on an interface screen(250). The users move the files stored at the communication terminals, the temporary file folder of the instant messenger server and the web hard storage unit of the web hard management server to a wanted space for sharing the files with others(260).
