A digital broadcasting receiver and a control method thereof are provided to generate and display a channel list about channels, which a CAM can descramble, and an expiration alarm message, and switch into a recently viewing paid channel easily if the CAM is inserted into a CAM connection unit, and switch into a recently viewing free channel if the CAM is separated from the CAM connection unit. A broadcasting tuner unit(10) receives a broadcasting signal. A signal processing unit(20) processes the received broadcasting signal. A display unit(30) displays the processed broadcasting signal. A CAM(Conditional Access Module) connection unit(40) inserts a CAM descrambling the scrambled broadcasting signal. A control unit(50) checks channels capable of descrambling stored in the CAM, generates a channel list of the channels, and displays the channel list on the display unit.
