Judder detection apparatus determines whether detection pattern similar to judder pattern is actual judder based on blind pattern detection

A pattern detector detects whether an input image has uniform pixel value in line of even and odd fields and whether consecutive lines of even and odd fields with blind pattern having difference from the uniform pixel value that is grater than or equal to threshold value. A determiner determines whether the detection pattern similar to judder pattern using specific pixel values is actual judder based on detecting blind pattern. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) de-interlacing apparatus; (2) de-interlacing method; and (3) judder detection method.
