A method for improving communication quality of CDMA system, stores more than one groups of quality controlling parameters beforehand in the base station controller for each base station which it controls, and divides the signal coverage degree of the current area of the mobile station into more than one ranks, then sets each group of quality controlling parameters to correspond to different signal coverage ranks, respectively; when establishing a call, the mobile station and the base station use a default group of quality controlling parameters; in the course of the call, based on the communication quality parameters reported, the base station controller decides the signal coverage rank of the current area of the mobile station; based on the decision, the base station controller sends the quality controlling parameters corresponding to current signal coverage rank between the base station and the mobile station to the base station and the mobile station. It can be achieved to improve communication quality of the area with worse system signal coverage by applying the method according to the present invention.
