A method for changing channel quality information and transmitting data in an HSDPA(High Speed Downlink Packet Access) scheme and a communication system applied to the same are provided to reduce an operation frequency of an IC driven for data process in a portable terminal and thus to save power consumption of the portable terminal by making a Node B change a data amount, a transmission speed and a coding scheme to be transmitted to the portable terminal. A method for changing channel quality information and transmitting data in an HSDPA scheme comprises the following several steps. A mode selector of a terminal determines a transmission mode(S100). A controller of the terminal changes a CQI(Channel Quality Information) value in accordance with the transmission mode(S102). The terminal transmits the changed CQI value to the Node B via an HS-DPCCH(High Speed Dedicated Physical Control Channel)(S104). An analysis unit of the Node B analyzes the transmitted CQI value, and a determining unit of the Node B determines a transmission speed, a coding scheme and a transmission data amount according to the analysis result by referring to the CQI value(S106). The Node B transmits data to the terminal by using the determined transmission scheme(S108). |
