A gateway system and a method for data synchronization are provided to achieve compatibility for various terminals or server by supplying compatibility for standardized SyncML synchronization modes. A communication module(200) communicates with a server and a terminal. A gateway module(204) for a server receives synchronization request data from the terminal through the communication module, parses the data according to a first synchronization mode, and transmits synchronization request data received from the server to the terminal. A gateway module(210) for a client receives synchronization request data from the server through the communication module, parses the data according to a second synchronization mode, and transmits synchronization request data received from the terminal to the server. A storage medium(228) stores synchronization data between the server and the terminal. A protocol manager(222) performs addition, deletion and change of the synchronization data on the storage medium. |
