[Class 132 (ii)] A gripping surface for a golf club or other playing appliance comprises a helically wound strip a of leather or strong fabric impregnated or coated with water-proof substance and having on its inner side a narrower strip c of rubber, felt, cord or soft leather to give a helically ridged form to the gripping surface. The strip c may be of rectangular or other crosssection and may have bevelled edges or may be convex on one side.
