<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal device while improving its light resistance and heat resistance. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device (1) is equipped with: a pair of substrates (10, 20); a liquid crystal layer (50) held between the pair of substrates; an alignment layer (16) formed on the liquid crystal layer side of one substrate out of the pair of substrates and having a plurality of first columnar structures (16a) containing an inorganic material; and an optical compensation layer (201) formed on the one substrate side relative to the alignment layer, compensating light passing through the liquid crystal layer, and further having a plurality of second columnar structures (201a) containing an inorganic material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
