<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf ball having superior controllability and flight performance as a ball for professionals and other skilled golf players, and having favorable scuff resistance to endure severe use conditions, while being excellent in hitting feel. <P>SOLUTION: This multi-piece solid golf ball comprises a core, an envelope layer which encases the core, an intermediate layer enclosing the envelope layer, and a cover which encases the intermediate layer and having multiple dimples on the surface, wherein the core is formed primarily of a rubber material and has a diameter of 31 mm or more, the envelope layer and the intermediate layer are each formed primarily of the same or different resin materials, and the cover is formed of primarily polyurethane. The cover and the intermediate layer have thicknesses satisfying the relationship cover thickness<intermediate layer thickness; and the cover material, the intermediate layer and the core surface have hardnesses satisfying the relationship; cover material hardness<intermediate layer material hardness<envelope layer material hardness>core surface hardness. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
