摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device of an internal combustion engine, capable of restraining the occurrence of damage by heat in a part on the upstream side of a catalyst in an exhaust system, when performing post-injection for regenerating a filter in a low state of atmospheric pressure. <P>SOLUTION: A post-injection quantity Qp in the post-injection performed when regenerating the filter, is guarded to an upper limit by using a guard value G. This guard value G is variably set so as to become small up to a value capable of restraining an excessive rise in the temperature T4, by restraining the temperature T4 of an aggregation part S of an exhaust manifold 10 in less than an allowable upper limit value, when the atmospheric pressure Pa is put in a state of being lower than standard atmospheric pressure.
