<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save a space when surface mounting is made to a board, make it easy to design the wiring of the board, and enable high-density mounting. <P>SOLUTION: An optical path conversion-type connector 1 is composed of an optical path conversion main body part 4 provided with a mirror 3 which reflects light at right angle toward the face of the board, the light being guided to an optical path parallel to the face of the board 2; and a pin-fitting positioning type optical ferrule part 7 provided with optical fiber (optical waveguide) 5 which constitutes the optical path, wherein the optical path conversion main body part 4 and the optical ferrule part 7 are integrally formed with a resin as one united body. When surface mounting is made to the board 2, an external optical connector 10 can directly be connected, without an adaptor or receptacle, to the optical path conversion-type connector 1 which is fixed to the board. Accordingly, ensuring a space for a connector or adaptor becomes unnecessary, and space saving is realized. Restriction on the length of wiring decreases to make the designing of the wiring easy, and high-density mounting becomes possible. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
