PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image data management system in which security of image data and its management information is ensured. SOLUTION: The system is constituted of an image forming apparatus 1 to/from which a USB memory 26 is attachable/detachable, and a server device 2. In the image forming apparatus 1, image data are acquired and management information containing a thumbnail thereof is created and encrypted. The encrypted image data are stored in the server device 2. The encrypted management information is stored in the USB memory 26. When acquiring image data again, the management information containing the thumbnail in the USB memory 26 is decrypted and desired image data are designated. The designated image data are downloaded from the server device 2 to the image forming apparatus 1 and decrypted.
