PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera capable of making the appearance of an image subjected to luminance shading correction satisfactory. SOLUTION: An image sensor 16 has an imaging surface that is irradiated with an optical image representing a field and outputs a field image generated on the imaging surface. A luminance shading correction circuit 24 corrects the luminance of the field image output from the image sensor 16 with reference to a gain curve set by a CPU 42. When a predetermined operation is performed in an adjustment process, the CPU 42 discriminates whether a luminance shading pattern on the imaging surface corresponds to a specific pattern in which luminance corresponding to a first position on the imaging surface reduces. If discrimination results are affirmative, the CPU 42 selects a gain curve having a reduction characteristic that reduces luminance corresponding to a second position of the imaging surface symmetrical to the first position.
