PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voltage regulator in which the rise in the output voltage is early. SOLUTION: This voltage regulator is provided with a first transistor M1 whose source is connected to a voltage input terminal 11, and whose drain is connected to a voltage output terminal 12; a voltage-dividing circuit 14, having a series circuit of a first resistor R1 and a second resistor R2; a capacitor C1 that accompanies the voltage output terminal 12; a difference amplifier 16, whose one side input terminal is connected to the voltage-dividing point of the voltage-dividing circuit 14, and whose other side input terminal is connected to the reference voltage generating circuit 15, and whose output terminal is connected to the gate of the first transistor M1; a third resistor R3, serially connected to the second transistor M2 and connected, in parallel with the first resistor R1, when the second transistor M2 is turned on; a fourth resistor R4 serially connected to the third transistor M3; and connected in parallel with the second resistor R2 when the third transistor M3 is turned on; and a driving circuit 17 for turning on/off the second and third transistors M1 and M2.
