PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact linear sensor which detects a highly accurate and high-resolution sliding position for surely capturing a vibration waveform of a belt, the belt tension sensor which highly accurately measures vibration over a wide frequency range, free from interference from surrounding environments. SOLUTION: The belt tension sensor 1 employs the linear sensor including: a slidable sensor rod 3; a sensor head 5 for detecting a sliding position of the sensor rod; and a guide member 4 for guiding the sensor rod. The linear sensor is equipped with the sensor rod 3 which is such structured that a magnetic core member 31 and a non-magnetic member 32 respectively with predetermined widths are alternately mounted in a hollow axial center of a non-magnetic axial member.
