PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assist a driver to grasp surrounding situations of a vehicle. SOLUTION: By performing a frequency analysis of an ambient sound of a vehicle detected by a microphone 1, it is determined whether or not the ambient sound includes a sound to be informed to an occupant of the vehicle. When the sound to be informed is included, it is extracted and outputted from a warning device 3. Thus, even if the vehicle occupant cannot distinguish a generated sound, he/she can recognize that the sound is generated around the vehicle. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
