Disclosed is a vinyl chloride resin composition having a better electrically insulating property compared to a conventional one.Also disclosed is a material for covering an electric wire, which comprises the vinyl chloride resin composition. The vinyl chloride resin composition comprises 100 parts by weight of a vinyl chloride resin and 0.1 to 3 parts by weight of synthetic aluminum silicate having an apparent specific gravity of 7 ml/g or more. The synthetic aluminum silicate preferably has a specific surface area of 400 m<SUP>2</SUP>/g or more. The material for covering an electric wire comprises the vinyl chloride resin composition.
