The opto-electronic assembly comprises an opto-electronic sub-module (1) and an opto-electronic component (2), which is arranged in a plastic housing (3). The opto-electronic component has two electrical contact areas (22). The plastic housing has a surface area (11), two electrical contact surfaces (41) and a rewiring layer (4). The electrical contact areas of the opto-electronic component of the sub-module are interconnected with each other. A guide structure (5) is provided, which is connected with the sub-module for receiving an optical fiber (6) or optical elements.
