<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing metal nanoparticles capable of easily mass-producing metal nanoparticles subjected to capping with two kinds of dispersants, and capable of reducing the firing temperature of ink upon its use for an inkjet, and to provide metal nanoparticles produced by the method. <P>SOLUTION: Disclosed is a method for producing metal nanoparticles including: a stage (a) where metal nanoparticles subjected to capping with fatty acid are produced; a stage (b) where a mixture obtained by mixing the metal nanoparticles subjected to the capping with the fatty acid and 1 to 7C straight chain or branched primary amine in an organic solvent is heated, so as to substitute a part of the fatty acid with the primary amine; and a stage (c) where 8 to 20C straight chain or branched secondary amine is added to the mixture, and thereafter, heating is performed, so as to resubstitute the primary amine with the secondary amine.
