PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a tire satisfying the driving stability of the tire, low fuel cost and high abrasion resistance at the same time without deteriorating the processability and to provide a pneumatic tire produced by using the rubber composition. SOLUTION: The rubber composition for a tire contains 100 pts.wt. of a diene rubber, 30-120 pts.wt. of a filler such as silica, 1-10 pts.wt. of at least one kind of compound (A) selected from fatty acid metal salts and fatty acid amides and 1-10 pts.wt. of at least one kind of compound (B) selected from trihydric alcohols such as trimethylolpropane and their polyether derivatives, wherein the A/B weight ratio of the compound A to the compound B is 0.25-5.
