PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire first copy as quickly as possible by a printer with a scanner function used by a user, and to output as many copies as possible by the printer with the scanner function operated by the user himself. SOLUTION: This printer is provided with a selection means for selecting an initial operation which ends in the shortest time from among a plurality of initial operations in the case of start when a user instructs a copy operation through an operation part in the case of starting the printer. Also, this printer is provided with a transfer means for transferring the data of the first copy through a network to an external printer and a print control mean for making the printing part which has ended the selected initial operation print the second and following copies.
