An apparatus and a method for opening and closing a sliding window system are provided to supply excellent soundproofing and wind-proofing efficiencies, watertight property and thermal insulating property, and to promote economical efficiency by forming a sliding window with a simple opening and closing structure and minimizing the number of components. An apparatus for opening and closing a sliding window system is formed to have excellent uniform air-tightness by making a sliding window(40) slide along an upper rail and a lower rail(11b) installed to a window frame(10), keeping a rail guide of rail guide assemblies on an upper frame of the sliding window to engage with the upper rail and keeping a wheel of wheel assemblies(41b,42b) under a lower frame(40b) of the sliding window to engage with the lower rail, separating the upper and lower frames of the sliding window between the wheel assemblies under the lower frame of the sliding window and the rail guide assemblies on the upper frame of the sliding window and moving in the transverse direction including displacement components perpendicular to the advancing direction of the rails of the window frame, and pressing a sealing member(30) inserted between the window frame or a fixed window frame and a sliding window frame and made of elastic material in the vertical direction at the uniform pressure. |
