An AED coating composition comprising, apart from water, (A) 1 to 20, pre ferably 5 to 15 wt.%, relative to the resin solids content of the compositio n, of at least one resin with functional groups selected from the group cons isting of hydroxyl groups, free isocyanate groups and blocked isocyanate gro ups, the resin is present as particles with melting temperatures from 40 to 200°C, in particular from 60 to 180°C, (B) at least one film-forming, self- or externally cross-linking AED binder different from resin (A), and (C) opt ionally, at least one component selected from the group consisting of cross- linkers (cross-linking agents), paste resins (grinding resins), nonionic res ins, pigments, fillers (extenders), coating additives and organic solvents; the AED coating compositions have a distinctly reduced edge migration behavi or or even no edge migration upon deposition and baking.
