SAFETY STRAP SYSTEM FOR MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS AND METHOD

A safety strap system used to securely fix a musical instrument temporarily to a nearby support object in an upright position and lessen the opportunity for it to be knocked over and damaged. It has an elongated main strap (6) or a wide-width main strap (24) with at least one cinch strap (18) secured to it in substantially perpendicular orientation. In one embodiment wide-width main strap (24) can function as a guitar strap. Quick-release fasteners (8) and (10), tongue-less buckles (20), and tri-glides (48) facilitate the formation of secure, but easily-opened, adjustable loops around the support object and/or musical instrument. The system also has several optional components that may be used with the main strap (6) or wide-width main strap (24), such as a deck pad (64), a rigid connector (66) with a post (68), a side mounting adapter (56) for side installations, and an extension strap (62).
