PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fail-safe, when an application which would realize control over a recording medium has ended abnormally or has failed starting. SOLUTION: A play list consisting of AV Clip and play list information, application, and a BD-J Object are recorded in a BD-ROM being a recording medium. The application is a program described in a programming language for a virtual machine and has a predetermined living section where execution by the virtual machine is enabled. The BD-J Object includes a reproduction continuation flag which regulates recovery process to be conducted at the abnormal ending of the application, and the reproduction continuation flag indicates that reproduction control carried out simultaneously with the application, by being set to a prescribed value is continued to a reproducing device also, after abnormal ending of the application.
