PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce friction loss during the run of a chain. SOLUTION: The silent chain 1 comprises a number of link plates 2 each having a pair of tooth portions 22 and a pin hole 21 and laminated in the thickness direction and in the longitudinal direction, and guide plates 4 arranged on the outermost sides of the link plates 2 and connected to each other with connection pins 3. In this case, on an outside face 4A of each guide plate 4, a semi-spherical protruded portion 45 is provided which has slide contact with a guide portion 56B of a chain guide 56 and a guide portion 57B of a tensioner arm 57 during the run of the silent chain 1. Thus, the silent chain 1 has point contact with the chain guide 56 and the tensioner arm 57 to reduce friction loss during the run of the chain. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
