PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method developed for selecting fuel rod enrichment in a fuel assembly of a nuclear reactor. SOLUTION: This method includes a step for preparing an order list for a fuel rod type in an initial fuel assembly design, a step for perturbing at least a subset for the fuel rod type in the initial fuel assembly design, in order to generate a plurality of perturbed fuel assembly designs, a step for selecting an allowable fuel enrichment type and the perturbed fuel assembly designs having an allowable average enrichment of fuel rod in perturbed fuel assemblies, a step for measuring a difference between each of the selected perturbed fuel assembly designs and the initial fuel assembly design, and a step for generating the group of perturbed fuel assembly designs having the difference smaller than a prescribed threshold value.
