MEMORY CARD POWER DISRUPT SYSTEM

A mechanical interlock mechanism described herein prevents a user from removing a memory card (16) while a portable electronic device (10) is connected to an external power supply. The portable electronic device (10) includes a memory port (14), a power connector (18), and a cover (20). The cover (20) is movable between first and second positions. In the first position, the cover (20) exposes the memory port (14). In the second position, the cover (20) exposes the power connector (18) and at least partially blocks the memory port (14) and any memory card (16) inserted in the memory port (14). Thus, the second position prevents the user from removing a memory card (16) from the memory port (14) while an external power supply is connected to the power connector (18).
