The method involves supplying a compressed charged air to a combustion chamber (14) of an internal-combustion engine (10) by a compressor (28). The compressed charged air can be cooled after the compression in a charged air cooler (30). The charged air can be cooled by a refrigerant of a refrigerator (40). Energy for cooling the refrigerant is extracted from the exhaust gas of the internal-combustion engine and/or a cooling circuit. A temperature of the refrigerant of the refrigerator lies below a temperature of a refrigerant of the internal-combustion engine. An independent claim is also included for an internal-combustion engine.
