A liquid crystal display device and a driving method thereof are provided to minimize a distortion in a common voltage in different regions by compensating for the respective common voltages. A liquid crystal display device includes an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) panel(102), an input portion, a driver, an adaptive common voltage generator(122), and a common voltage generator(120). Plural gate, data, and common lines are arranged on the LCD panel. The input portion inputs pixel data. The driver drives the LCD panel by using the pixel data from the input portion. The adaptive common voltage generator divides the LCD panel into at least one region, sets a compensated common voltage corresponding to the regions, and supplies the compensated common voltage to the LCD panel. The common voltage generator generates the common voltage to be supplied to the LCD panel.
