PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an ink composition having good color development and good ejection stability in addition to the characteristic effects of pigment inks such as suppressed bleeding and feathering defects.

SOLUTION: The invention relates to a method for producing an ink composition containing a pigment dispersion comprising a pigment included in a micelle formed at least by an amphiphilic block polymer, and having an average particle diameter of ≤50 nm and a polydispersity index of ≤0.20. The production method comprises a raw material dispersion production step to produce a raw material dispersion containing a raw material for the pigment included in the micelle and a pigment dispersion producing step to synthesize the pigment by using the inside of the micelle as the reaction field.
