<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight unit for a liquid crystal display device in which a fluorescent tube arranged at the front side of a bottom cover and an inverter arranged at the rear side of the bottom cover are connected in a simpler construction, and to provide a liquid crystal display device module including the backlight unit. <P>SOLUTION: In the backlight unit, a plurality of fluorescent tubes arranged at the front side of the bottom cover are inserted into lamp sockets and a circuit board (a PCB or a balancing PCB) arranged in parallel with the fluorescent tube is mounted at the front side of the bottom cover. This allows the plurality of fluorescent tubes to be connected to the inverter arranged at the rear side of the bottom cover by one coupling means (wires), whereby the number of inverters required as many as the number of fluorescent tubes can be reduced.
