<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an optical device and a method of predicting the occurrence of defective appearance by which the occurrence of the defective appearance is suppressed and the manufacturing cost of the optical device is reduced. <P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the optical device carried out by heating and softening a base material for press molding and press-molding the heated and softened base material for press molding includes a deformation flow predicting step (S2) for predicting the deformation flow of the base material for press molding which is caused by press-molding and a base material selecting step for selecting whether the base material for press-molding is allowed to be used or not for press-molding based on the predicted result of the deformation flow and the defect of the surface of the base material for press-molding. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
