<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the gradation reproducibility of a printer. <P>SOLUTION: A color patch of each predetermined gradation is printed, a colorimetric value is obtained by measuring the color of the patch (601), and the number of absorption peaks is determined from a reflection spectrum of the patch (602).
