PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method 200 and a system 300 for testing an overspeed prevention system of a turbomachine. SOLUTION: The method 200 comprises: a step for providing an overspeed prevention system on the turbomachine including at least one shaft; steps 210, 215, 220, 225 for determining whether the speed of at least one shaft exceeds a shutdown value; a step 245 for changing an overspeed trip value of the turbomachine; and a step 250 for determining whether the overspeed prevention system would operate to trip the turbomachine.
