PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an organic EL element wherein a metal or the like can be easily and surely contained in an hole injection layer without being affected by solubility and dispersibility of metal components toward the forming material of the hole injection layer, and characteristics as to luminous efficiency and a lifetime are enhanced thereby. SOLUTION: This organic EL element has the hole injection layer 70 and a luminescent layer on an anode 23, and also has a cathode on the luminescent layer. The manufacturing method of the organic EL element has a process to form a thin film (thin film pattern 50a) made of a metal or a metal compound on the anode 23, and a process to form the hole injection layer 70 on the thin film (thin film pattern 50a), and to diffuse metal components in the thin film (thin film pattern 50a) into the hole injection layer 70.
