PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge controller which can prevent deterioration of an auxiliary power supply, and to provide a discharge control method and an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The discharge controller performing discharge control from a chargeable/dischargeable auxiliary power supply to a storage means comprises a means for measuring the current consumption of the storage means, a means for deriving the termination voltage of the auxiliary power supply, based on the current consumption, and a control means for stopping discharging of the auxiliary power supply, when the internal voltage of the auxiliary power supply reaches the termination voltage.
